There was a story in the local Atlanta news about a 21-year-old college student who was found dead in his dorm room. The deceased man’s roommate said, “I started thinking how I haven’t seen our roommate in so long. He stopped playing his music for the past few days.” If the story didn’t involve death, then I might laugh at the shocking quote. How could someone not know that their roommate was dead in the other room? He only became concerned after noticing a smell. I thought about the failure of that village Clinton implored that was supposed to better generations to come. We’ve all probably heard that the world is less connected and people don’t even know their neighbors. This story proves that some of us don’t even know our own roommates. Maybe there’s truth to the claims about a society so wrapped up in technology. That is until the music stops playing.
